2nd Story

Two partners. Different strengths. One business problem at a time

You work directly with Kathryn and Veronica.

Why we built 2nd Story

We like businesses in motion — the ones that have already built something real and are now working out how to make the next stage stronger, simpler and more deliberate.

We also know that the important work often sits between functions. A growth decision touches people. A brand promise touches operations. A system change touches customers. A crisis touches everything.

2nd Story brings those perspectives into one conversation, then gets involved in the work. Our aim is simple: help good businesses make good progress, without losing what made them good in the first place.

No account manager in the middle and no junior hand-off after the first meeting.

The partners

Kathryn, partner at 2nd Story

Kathryn

Strategy. Commercial. People. Operations. And bringing the moving parts together.

Kathryn has spent her career inside organisations dealing with growth, change and complexity. Her experience spans executive leadership, commercial performance, people, operations, governance, systems and transformation — which means she is usually most useful when a business problem does not sit neatly in one box. At 2nd Story, Kathryn helps owners and leadership teams get clear on what is really getting in the way, make the commercial and organisational decisions that matter, and turn those decisions into practical plans, structures and ways of working. Kathryn is at her best somewhere between a commercial problem, a people problem and a whiteboard.

Veronica, partner at 2nd Story

Veronica

Brand. Marketing. Customer. And turning what is good about the business into a story people can understand.

Veronica brings the brand, marketing and customer lens to 2nd Story. Her focus is helping businesses get clear on what they stand for, how they show up, what customers need from them and how to turn that into practical marketing, communications and customer experience action. She works from strategy through to execution — whether that means sharpening positioning, building a marketing plan, improving customer engagement, shaping the brand or helping a business communicate clearly through an important moment. The aim is not marketing activity for its own sake. It is a brand and customer experience that supports the commercial direction of the business.

Everyone's Got a 2nd Story

Four quick questions. Two very different answers.

Vee

Working to become an ocean therapy practitioner, one weekday course at a time — usually with surfboards and boys in the car, sand everywhere, and a home renovation on the go.

Kathryn

Turns out the "reliable one" had a creative side hiding the whole time. I'm currently elbow-deep in making jewellery, handbags and resin objects all the while doing crash courses in AI.

We all have a 2nd Story — it just depends whether yours is showing up in the business, at home, or somewhere in between. Ours happen to include an ocean-therapy trainee and a reformed "reliable one" turned AI enthusiast. We'd love to hear yours.

Why the two-partner model works

The value is not that Kathryn does one list of services and Veronica does another. It is that both perspectives can be brought into the same problem. The business gets a commercial and operating view, a customer and brand view, and two senior people who are comfortable moving between strategy and delivery. Better still, both Kathryn and Veronica bring a network of pre-qualified senior specialists across their fields — called on when a specific engagement needs deeper expertise, or to work inside an organisation supporting the business.
